Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Trussnet ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Trussnet is a marketplace that connects pre-med and medical students with medical students, residents, and physicians who mentor on the platform. We provide the technology to facilitate bookings, payments, and communications. Trussnet is not a party to the mentoring relationship itself.

3. User Accounts

You must be 18 years or older to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.

4. Payments and Fees

Session fees are charged when you book. You pay the mentor's session price plus a $2 booking fee. The $2 is charged on every paid booking and is not paid to the mentor.

Trussnet also keeps a percentage of the session price. For most mentors that percentage is 15%, and the mentor receives 85%. The first 100 approved mentors are founding mentors. Trussnet's percentage is waived on each founding mentor's first 10 paid bookings that are not later refunded. After those 10 bookings, the percentage is 8%, and the mentor receives 92%. A booking that is refunded, or cancelled before it is paid, does not count toward those 10.

Mentors receive the rest of the session price through Stripe, on Stripe's payout schedule. Payments are processed by Stripe. A mentor is not listed in Browse Mentors, and cannot accept paid bookings, until Stripe payout setup is complete.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations made more than 24 hours before a scheduled session are eligible for a full refund of the session price and the $2 booking fee. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable, including the booking fee. If a mentor cancels a paid session, the mentee receives a full refund of the session price and the booking fee. Trussnet may issue other refunds at its discretion.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the Platform to harass, abuse, or harm others; to engage in fraudulent activity; to circumvent the Platform to arrange off-platform payments; or to violate any applicable laws or regulations.

7. Not Medical Care

Trussnet sessions are mentoring for education and career guidance only. They are not medical care, clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and they do not create a physician–patient relationship. Mentors and mentees must not use the Platform to practice medicine or to replace care from a licensed clinician.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of Trussnet or its content suppliers and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written consent.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trussnet shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or any mentoring sessions facilitated through it.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
